It was inspired by <a href=\"https:\/\/eltgeek.wordpress.com\/2015\/06\/02\/keeping-a-conversation-going-a-lesson-plan\/\" target=\"_blank\">this post<\/a>\u00a0by Olya Sergeeva (hat tip to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.twitter.com\/eilymurphy\" target=\"_blank\">@eilymurphy<\/a>) that I didn&#8217;t have time to implement fully so tweaked to my own needs.<br \/>\n<strong>Update (10 October 2016):<\/strong> There are two leveled sheets, one for elementary\/pre-intermediate (<a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/open?id=0B3Mbk94zCF3hSzBtUTRYWUlKWFU\" target=\"_blank\">MS Word<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/open?id=0B3Mbk94zCF3heXJjWnBNa0xKLW8\" target=\"_blank\">PDF<\/a>)\u00a0and one for intermediate levels and up\u00a0(<a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/open?id=0B3Mbk94zCF3hNFE5alI2TE81bkk\" target=\"_blank\">MS Word<\/a>\u00a0or <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/open?id=0B3Mbk94zCF3hNm1aLVB1UmFaTm8\" target=\"_blank\">PDF<\/a>).<br \/>\nOne student observes two or more students having a conversation about a given topic or one of their own choosing, checking the boxes each time one of the conversation events occurs. Use a set time for this; I&#8217;d say 3 minutes at least and certainly less than 10.<br \/>\nAt the end, observing students report which boxes were not checked. This can then be taught\/coached. You could collect the information from the sheets and repeat the activity after a certain number of classes to monitor improvement (or lack thereof).<br \/>\nI hope this is useful.
